Careers: Application Support Engineer

The Application Support Engineer is responsible for installation, testing, documentation, and maintenance of a complex enterprise application used by IT, Sales, and Education Services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Collect and document applications requirements from instance owners.
  • Document network, server, and backup requirements and work with other IT staff to make necessary changes to systems and operational procedures to accommodate new instances.
  • Prepares use case / test scenarios for environment validation.
  • Develop Level 1 troubleshooting procedures.
  • Work with internal and external clients to troubleshoot and resolve technical problems.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of all Accruent-supported products and technologies.
  • Work with Accruent’s Hosting provider as a Subject Matter Expert on Accruent applications.
  • Troubleshoot Level 2 and Level 3 applications issues for Hosted and Internal instances.
  • Work closely with Product Development staff, particularly the Deployment Engineer, to be fully versed on the deployment and maintenance of Accruent applications.
  • Work with internal IT staff and Hosting providers to develop appropriate monitoring tools for all internal applications instances.
  • Manage Change Control process for all internal instances.
  • Apply application level patches and upgrades as necessary.
  • Publish application deployment standards to be used for all internal applications instances.
  • Maintain inventory of applications instances and database servers used to run all internal instances of Accruent’s applications.
  • Assist Management in developing short & long-range goals & objectives.
  • When necessary, respond to emergency off-hour support requests.
Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science or MIS or equivelant experience.
  • Experience deploying and managing ERP applicaiton such as Oracle Applicaitons, SAP, Peoplesoft, etc.
  • MCITP: Database Administrator or MCDBA certification a big plus.
  • Experience with the following:
    • Windows administratio (Linux is plus)
    • OS scripts (VBS or PowerShell)
    • T-SQL or PL/SQL
    • IIS/Apache Tomcat administration
    • Deploying and administering web applications (.NET or Java a plus)
    • Business Objects Enterprise XI
    • Citrix basic administration
    • Database connectivity usind ODBC, OLEDB
    • Basic network security
