Leading solution providers to share real-world examples of cybersecurity risk assessment and remediation.

Accruent, the world’s leading provider of physical resource management solutions, and Zingbox, the provider of the most widely deployed Internet of Things (IoT) lifecycle management solution, announced that it will be hosting a panel presentation at AAMI Exchange to address the automation of medical device cyber security to address the challenge of ever-increasing cost and time associated with identifying and remediating medical device cybersecurity breaches.

According to MDISS (Medical Device Innovation, Safety & Security Consortium), cybersecurity risks are a major public health concern. since It is estimated that patients in the U.S. healthcare system will be exposed to over 500 billion interactions with connected medical devices in the next 10 years, according to "Medical Device Cybersecurity: A Guide for HTM Professionals". The cost of cybersecurity is also a concern as annual global spend on implementing cybersecurity measures approaches $100 billion and global losses to businesses near $1 trillion, according to "The Economics of Cybersecurity. Biomedical Instrumentation & Technology: Cyber Vigilance: Keeping Healthcare Technology Safe and Secure in a Connected World".

The increased threat of connected medical device security requires a new solution to address the complete lifecycle management of medical devices, from procurement, onboarding, daily operations and maintenance to the disposition plan.

“Managing cybersecurity risk and accelerating remediation takes collaboration across many solution providers and organizations,” said John Borgerding, CEO, Accruent. “By addressing the increasing volume of medical device cybersecurity risks in hospitals and treatment facilities, we can help our customers better secure and manage their healthcare assets.”

“In the current cybersecurity climate, it’s imperative for healthcare providers to quickly adopt a comprehensive medical device cybersecurity program to manage the entire device lifecycle,” said Xu Zou, CEO and Co-founder, Zingbox. “We are excited to share our insights along with Accruent and other industry leaders at AAMI Exchange.”

The session at AAMI Exchange, Automating Medical Device Cybersecurity Risk Assessment and Remediations will be held on Monday June 10, 2019 at 8:00am to 9am and presented by the following industry leaders:

  • Alan Gresch, VP of Client Success, Accruent.
  • Michael Lane, Director of Instrumentation and Technical Services, University of Vermont.
  • Mayuresh, Ektare, VP of Product Management, Zingbox.
  • Dale Nordenberg, PHD, Executive Director, MDISS.

Accruent’s Medical Device Security Analyzer applies a two-pronged approach to the management and mitigation of cybersecurity risk – preparation and protection. Accruent’s MDSA/IoT solution capabilities are designed to enable organizations to gather as much information as possible that contributes to the device or system’s cybersecurity risk, and to ensure the best protection by partnering with providers of discovery and monitoring tools to respond promptly to cybersecurity anomalies in a prioritized, measurable, and consistent manner.
