Healthcare technology and facilities management webinars approved for up to 11 CEUs toward AAMI certification.

Austin, TX, March 21, 2019 – Accruent, the world’s leading provider of physical resource management solutions, announced today that its upcoming webinar series “10 Steps to Make Your Healthcare Technology Management and Facilities Departments a Strategic Asset” has been approved for AAMI Credentials Institute (ACI) certification credit by the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI).

According to The Moody’s Investors Service analysis, operating margins for hospitals have fallen to an all-time low at 1.6 percent. Hospital support departments continue to be asked to do more with less while facing a decline in qualified human resources. With a tight market for healthcare technology management (HTM) personnel, certification has become an important tool for hospitals to identify qualified professionals. AAMI offers four different industry certifications and has credentialed more than 8,000 professionals in nearly 40 countries. Certification helps to highlight a professional's ability to provide quality and trustworthy service.

Accruent’s “10 Steps” webinar series will be available from March 2019 through March 2020. Each one-hour session has been approved for one continuing education unit (CEU) towards ACI certification, allowing healthcare professionals to earn up to 11 CEUs. The primary presenter for the series will be Alan Gresch, Vice President of Healthcare Client Success, Accruent. Gresch has more than 30 years of technology management experience in multi-hospital health systems, leading both clinical engineering and corporate system logistics teams.

Certified professionals must complete 30 CEUs, directly related to the HTM field every three years to maintain their certification. CEUs can be accumulated through a wide variety of professional activities, including attending or presenting for educational meetings, classes, and seminars; participating in healthcare committees; publishing articles and educational content; and working in the HTM field.

“Recertification programs are important because they require those with credentials to present evidence that they are maintaining the established standard,” said Sherrie Schulte, AAMI’s director of certification programs. “AAMI is fortunate to have a number of member organizations with the expertise to develop content in support of our certification programs.”

As a company that serves more than half U.S. hospitals, Accruent is excited to have the opportunity to give back to the healthcare industry. “High-performing healthcare systems use tested methodologies to optimize processes and deliver value,” said Gresch. “Sharing best practices gleaned from thousands of healthcare systems will give participants information to help them improve their technology management practices. Those improved practices will help make the healthcare system safer and more efficient for all.”

Five of the “10 Steps to Make Your Healthcare Technology and Facility Departments a Strategic Asset” series webinars will be available on demand, while the others will be presented live, beginning March 19, 2019.
