LSU benefits from cloud solution to manage its university system facilities.

Accruent, the leader in real estate and facilities management solutions, announced today that Louisiana State University (LSU) has chosen Accruent’s FAMIS cloud system through the university’s procurement process. LSU is one of the leading research-based higher education institutions and they will be using the Integrated Workplace Management System (IWMS) to manage their space and facilities.

The FAMIS brand represents a 30-year legacy of focused higher education development and collaboration with some of the best universities and colleges in North America. In 2012, Accruent accelerated investment to create a new version of FAMIS engineered from the ground up for cloud-based deployment.

“LSU’s mission is focused on education, research and public service, and having a world-class facilities organization and the tools to run that organization are imperative,” said Tony Lombardo, Executive Director, LSU Office of Facility Services. “FAMIS cloud will provide us with a robust solution that positions us to exceed our performance commitments.”

Louisiana State University, the flagship university of the state, is located on the southern edge of Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The main campus contains 539 buildings that encompass 12.7 million gross square feet of classroom, lab, office, auxiliary and other space.

“We’re very excited to welcome LSU into the FAMIS community,” said Mark Friedman, founder and CEO of Accruent. “LSU’s decision to go with FAMIS to replace their legacy system affirms the many reasons the cloud model is flourishing – no infrastructure costs, automatic upgrades and access anywhere, any time and on any device.”

After a long and diligent RFP process, LSU chose FAMIS cloud because the system is purpose built for higher education.

“The deep knowledge that the Accruent team displayed proved their commitment to higher education,” said Paul Favaloro, Director, LSU Office of Facility Services. “Having integration with our ERP system, combined with being able to take advantage of regular and systematic updates of their cloud IWMS system, were key drivers in our decision.”

FAMIS is a purpose-built, higher education IWMS software solution designed to manage the complete facilities lifecycle —from real estate acquisitions to project management, operations, maintenance, facilities management, asset management, inventory control and space management.

Since 1982, FAMIS technology has stood out as a leader in providing robust facilities management functionality developed specifically for the higher education sector. Today, Accruent’s FAMIS solution is deployed exclusively via the cloud as a SaaS (Software-as-a-Service) solution. Designed with robust business intelligence and integrated mobile capability, FAMIS can reduce customers’ total cost of ownership, enhance agility, and remove the burden of system maintenance and upgrades.
