Air Liquide, a world leader in gases, technologies, and services for both industry and health, was struggling with an outdated Engineering Document Management System (EDMS). A major frustration was the system’s poor functionality. The team often found it difficult to locate critical documents, especially engineering drawings, and had to rely on a few individuals with specialized knowledge. Furthermore, the legacy system’s limitations meant that documents were exported, updated via email, and then re-uploaded, resulting in a lack of control, management issues, and overall inefficiencies.
Recognizing these challenges, Air Liquide sought a solution that would overcome the shortcomings of their old system. Growing frustrations from information bottlenecks, poor document control, and inefficiencies prompted them to search for a new document management solution that could:
Paul von Burg, Project Quality Assurance Document Control Manager, explains in the video below how Air Liquide navigated this process and selected Accruent Meridian EDMS. Not only did Meridian streamline the process of finding critical documents, but it also significantly reduced the time and effort required to manage them.
1. Legacy Limitations:
Air Liquide’s old system hindered access to crucial documents, creating bottlenecks that slowed information flow.
2. Uncontrolled Workflow:
The system forced practices where documents were handled outside the EDMS, leading to operational inefficiencies and management issues.
3. Clear Requirements:
By establishing a clear process, Air Liquide identified a comprehensive list of organizational needs, which helped them select the right solution.
4. Effective Solution:
Accruent Meridian significantly reduced the time and effort needed to locate and manage critical documents. Overall, users have reported a positive experience with the new solution.
