The University of Missouri is a public research institution located in Columbia, Missouri, serving more than 28,000 students and managing hundreds of event and academic spaces across campus.
Multiple departments managed event requests and space reservations with disconnected systems, manual spreadsheets and PDF conversions for invoicing, confirmations and billing. There was no centralized, real-time view of space availability, leading to back-and-forth communications with clients to determine open dates and times. This manual, time-intensive approach created operational friction, frustrated internal and external clients, and diverted staff from strategic work and relationship building.

Rather than sourcing a new platform, the university evaluated existing licenses and internal experience and expanded the use of Accruent EMS, which another campus group had used for more than 12 years with strong results. EMS became the single system of record for central event space reservations and event data, giving clients real-time visibility and a streamlined request process while standardizing operations across teams.
EMS reduced manual workload, improved operational efficiency and shifted staff time from administrative tasks to client service and event coordination. Clients gained transparency into space availability and received consistent, accurate billing.
